Raven Golf Club
Raven Golf Club – Phoenix features a one-of-a-kind round of desert golf. Its fairways are lined with Georgia pine, and its greens have more tiers than one – the kind of golf course that only Gary Panks and David Graham could imagine, and a can’t-miss on your next golf trip to Phoenix. Over the ages, the golf club has garnered all sorts of recognition. The layout features plush, rolling fairways framed by thousands of mature trees, as well as vistas of rugged desert mountains and the Phoenix skyline. The golf course’s flexible, strategic design offers a challenge for all players, and the variety it presents will give you the opportunity to use nearly every club in your bag. That said, the Raven Golf Club – Phoenix might be the perfect place to turn a business trip to Phoenix into a golf trip to Phoenix – it’s handy to Sky Harbor Airport and downtown Phoenix.

McDowell Mountain Golf Club
McDowell Mountain Golf Club (formerly known as Sanctuary Golf Course) provides an eco-friendly option in Scottsdale – a pretty setting, too, on the McDowell Mountains’ western slope. The golf course was designed by the architect Randy Heckenkemper, who turned what had been the Bureau of Reclamation’s storm-water-retention area into a top Scottsdale golf course, with 6,624-yards of par-71 golf laid out over what truly tries to be a sanctuary for the indigenous flora and fauna. McDowell Mountain Golf Club’s signature hole is the 18th, a 516-yard par 5 that allows you finish your round of golf in risk-reward style, with an eagle or birdie practically begging to be attempted – though it might be just as easy to double-bogey. A bunker on the right guards a skinny landing area, while a wicked wash awaits on the left, but, hit that drive right, and you might just make the green in two. After your round of golf on the golf course, head back to the restaurant, where you can take your breakfast or lunch daily in the dining room or on the patio – and take in vistas of the golf course and Camelback Mountain.

Ocotillo Golf Club
If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley’s courses precisely because it isn’t surrounded by desert. The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property — the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch. The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo’s greens aren’t as fast as some of the Valley’s marquee desert courses.

Stonecreek Golf Club
The course at Stonecreek Golf Club has a traditional links-style layout that meanders through Paradise Valley, providing stunning mountain vistas to the south and west. The golf course has undergone several renovations since its opening and the result is superb round of golf in a beautiful setting. The hilly fairways and fast greens are immaculate and well manicured. Water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout the course. Stonecreek Golf Club also has convenient practice facilities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a pro shop and professional golf instructors on the premises.

Palm Valley Golf Club
The Palms Course at the Palm Valley Golf Club is one of two 18-hole courses offered at the facility. Located only a short distance from downtown Phoenix, the course is not only conveniently located but also accessible by any skill level of golfer. It provides adequate challenge for advanced players while offering a chance for less experienced golfers to hone their game. The golf course has a links-style design with a desert landscape that ranges between hilly and flat. Bunkers protect both the fairways and greens. There is also a lake that forms water hazards for two holes. Beginning in February, wind usually becomes at Palm Valley Golf Club’s Palms Course.

Superstition Springs Golf Club
The East Valley’s Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona’s most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features. By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America’s Best Golf Courses. After – or before – a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside, outside on the patio or in the game room.

Kokopelli Golf Club
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Continental Golf Club
The course at Continental Golf Club has a traditional links-style layout that meanders through Paradise Valley, providing stunning mountain vistas to the south and west. The golf course has undergone several renovations since its opening and the result is superb round of golf in a beautiful setting. The hilly fairways and fast greens are immaculate and well manicured. Water hazards come into play on five holes. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout the course. Continental Golf Club also has convenient practice facilities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a pro shop and professional golf instructors on the premises.

The Legend at Arrowhead
Located in the west valley, the Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed golf course with a traditional layout. The challenging course has six lakes creating water hazards on many of the holes and several doglegs. The difficult to read greens are undulating and in excellent condition. Each hole, except for one, has bunkering on the fairways or protecting the greens. Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club’s signature hole is the par-4, 426-yard fifth hole. It calls for a shot off an elevated tee with water running along the right side of the fairway as well as next to the green.
